The Palm Beach Film Festival is calling for entries for the 2009 Student Showcase of Films.
Students enrolled in Florida colleges and high schools are encouraged to enter their films by Jan. 21, 2009.
More than $25,000 in cash awards, prizes and scholarships are offered in five categories: Feature Shorts and Documentaries, Animation, PSA/Commercial, Music Video and Audience Award.
Awards include a $5,000 Burt Reynolds scholarship for two Palm Beach County high school seniors, a screen-writing competition and a $1,000 poster competition open to both middle and high school students.
Industry professionals from around the United States will judge the entries. The awards will be presented at a ceremony on April 28 at the Duncan Theatre on the Palm Beach Community College campus in Lake Worth.
Winning films will premiere during the film festival, which is sponsored by the Palm Beach County Film and Television Commission.
