Fair crafts and skills competition open to public

If you’ve created anything from recipes to sculpture, a web site or Face Book design, sewing to pottery, woodworking to photography, now is the time to enter it in the 2009 South Florida Fair Community Crafts and Skills competition.

You may win a blue ribbon.

Categories also include scrapbooks, needlepoint, ceramics, dolls, embroidery, leather, plaster craft, school art, knitting, crochet, quilting, jewelry, cake decorating, baking, canning and potluck.

Competitons are open to residents of Florida.

Amateurs and professionals will be judged separately, as will adults, juniors and seniors. All entries must be handmade by the entrant within the last two years and will be judged on creative workmanship.

Entries will be displayed at the fair in January.

This year’s fair theme is “A World of Fun,” spotlighting people, cultures and animals of all seven continents.

Entry forms and the competition handbook may be downloaded at southfloridafair.com, or for more information contact Lori Stinson at 790-5245.

The fair will be held at the South Florida Fairgrounds Jan. 16 through Feb. 1, 2009.
