Homework help offered online

The ever-expanding World Wide Web includes homework help for Palm Beach County students in grades 4-12. They can find it at pbclibrary.org and click on the Live Homework Help link, Tutor.com.

The help is free and on-demand from qualified tutors in math, science, social studies and English. Spanish-speaking tutors are available for math and science. In addition, tutors are also available for introductory college level courses.

This is not the first time this service has been made available. During the last school year, more than 7,000 county students completed live homework sessions and gave the tutors high ratings.

Some 90 percent of students who used the online service believe the program helped them build confidence and complete their assignments, and 96 percent highly recommends this service to other students.

Homework tutors are available 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. Sundays through Thursdays and 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturdays.

Help is one-on-one and tutors review homework and chat with the student about subject-specific concepts.

The 1,800-plus tutors are teachers, college professors, professional tutors and college graduate or undergraduates from across the country. Every tutor is certified by Tutor.com and has completed a third party background check.
