PBCC receives $18,200 from Pratt & Whitney to start aerospace technology curriculum

The Math and Science Summer Institute of Palm Beach Community College has received $18,200 from Pratt & Whitney. The money will be used to open a physics/math track next year with a curriculum focused on aerospace technology.

"Pratt & Whitney is pleased to fund the start of specialized education in aerospace technology and Palm Beach Community College," said Graham Webb, general manager of Pratt & Whitney Rocketdyne Florida and Mississippi operations. "We congratulate Palm Beach Community College for offering a curriculum that will help prepare students who excel in math and science for a future in engineering."

PBCC’s Summer Institute attracts advanced high school and college students with a blend of rigorous college classes, research projects and career exploration, according to PBCC president Dennis Gallon.

"Pratt & Whitney’s generous support will help us to expand those opportunities for future institute students," Gallon said. "This partnership will provide long-term benefits for students as well as the growing sector of the region’s business community that is centered on scientific research and industry."
